Guardian Angel loses eye to Peaceful Looters in NYC – help a brother with medical bills

 

Aram Sabet is one of our most valued members of the Guardian Angels. He joined the group in December of 2019. Founded in 1979, the Guardian Angels are a group of volunteers who keep the community safe from thugs and gangsters. Time and time again the GA has proven that they do make a difference in the communities they serve.

During these turbulent times, many riots and protests have been happening in NYC. Our group has been patrolling in several areas despite the pandemic as we feel we should protect small businesses from getting looted. Although he is a new member, he showed much enthusiasm for our cause and was willing to learn the ropes on becoming a patrol leader.

One day while we were patrolling on McDonald Ave a group of about 100 looters were trying to loot local businesses. We had 10 members on patrol with one of them being Aram. We were surrounded by a mob and we all had our hands full and was unable to help each other. The mob had weapons and Aram was overwhelmed. To this day I still regret not being able to help out my fellow member but it is what it is.

We took Aram to the hospital where he got 48 stitches for his damaged eye. He also had a chipped tooth and a broken nose.

Unfortunately the damage to his eye is permanent. He has racked up a considerable amount of medical bills to try to restore vision in his eye but the doctor’s diagnosis is grim. Aram Sabet has lost vision in his eye so please help out with his medical bills.

Aram Sabet did not deserve this, no one in his situation deserves what happened to him. He was just an unarmed volunteer trying to do the right thing by preventing looters from looting busineses. As his patrol leader it pains me to see a fellow member get injured. We do not regret patrolling that day but we do regret how we handled it and the results that transpired.
